WHO EARNS THE DEATH PENALTY?
CASE STUDY #7-Scott Peterson
SACRAMENTO, Calif., Oct. 8, 2012 - As California voters consider whether to side with the ACLU and other liberal special interests to get rid of the death penalty, the No on Proposition 34 campaign will continue to profile the “worst of the worst” convicted murderers on Death Row. These are just some of the killers who will be spared under Proposition 34:
On Christmas Eve 2002, Laci Peterson disappeared from her Modesto home. She was eight months pregnant. Husband Scott Peterson claimed to be mystified by her disappearance. Four months later, the remains of Peterson’s baby, Connor, washed ashore in the San Francisco Bay. The next day, Laci’s body was recovered, although she was unrecognizable. Laci’s head and all or part of her limbs were missing. An autopsy on her severely decomposed body showed that she had suffered several broken ribs.
Scott Peterson was convicted and sentenced to death for the murder of Laci and unborn baby Connor. He has never expressed remorse for the crime.
Judge Alfred Delucchi presided over the case and agreed that, ”the factors in aggravation are so substantial when compared to the factors of mitigation that death is warranted.”
Peterson is on death row at San Quentin, overlooking the San Francisco Bay where Laci Peterson’s body was found.
